REPUBLIC of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has named his squad to play Poland on the 6th of February.
Norwich City winger Anthony Pilkington is amongst the Irish squad which faces a stern test with the visit of Poland next month. Pilkington, 24 , has been in fine form for his Premier League team, even managing to get on the scoresheet against former club Manchester United a few months into the English Premier League season. Norwich currently lie in 13th place in the league table.
The Italian manager has also found a place in his squad for Derby County trio Conor Sammon, Richard Keogh and Jeff Hendrick. While Giovanni has named a rather in-experienced side to face Poland, he see's this fixture the chance to give fringe players a massive chance to stake a place in the side for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
"I have decided to use this friendly game as an opportunity to work with younger players to see their potential," said the Republic of Ireland manager through a media release.
"We saw a number of strong performances from our younger players in the second half of last year and we intend to build from those strong foundations."
I look forward to working with these players and seeing what they have to offer."
